Small, reliable Python tools for people who automate their trading.

Tinkermoss is an independent workshop for Python tools, bot kits and plain-English guides. Everything is readable, self-hosted and starts on testnet. No secret strategies and no profit promises, just code you can understand and rely on.

What you'll find here

A growing hub. The first releases focus on crypto exchange automation.

Kits

Complete, documented projects you can run and modify: source code plus a setup guide.

Python tools

Small utilities that solve one annoying problem well.

Guides

Step-by-step write-ups on fixing real errors and building safety rails.

The hard part isn't the strategy

People who run bots keep running into the same problems, and most "simple bot" scripts ignore them.

Lost state after a disconnect

The WebSocket drops, the bot reconnects, and it no longer knows which orders are open. Result: ghost positions or double entries.

No real kill-switch

Without hard caps on position size and daily loss, one bad night can do a lot of damage.

Backtest ≠ live

Fees, slippage and partial fills quietly eat the edge you thought you had.

Duplicate or missed alerts

A TradingView webhook fires twice, or not at all, and your position drifts away from your strategy.

Cryptic API errors

-1021 timestamp, -1022 signature, -1102 missing parameter, 429 rate limits. Hours lost on each.

Reconnect loops and IP bans

Retrying with no backoff can burn through exchange connection limits in seconds.

FAQ

Will this bot make me money?

We don't know, and nobody honestly can. The kit is a tool and a learning resource. It contains no secret strategy and comes with no promise of returns. Many people lose money trading, with or without bots.

Why not just use OctoBot, Freqtrade or a bot built into the exchange?

They're great, and free. Use them if they fit. Our kits are for people who want a small codebase they can read end to end and change themselves.

Do I need to know Python?

Basic Python helps. The guide covers setup, config and running the bot, so you can start without being an expert.

Is my API key safe?

The code runs on your own machine or server. Keys never reach us. The guide shows how to create keys with trading permission only, with withdrawals disabled and an IP whitelist.

Which exchanges are supported?

Binance and Bybit (testnet and live) are planned at launch. Check your exchange's terms and whether it's available in your country.

What if it doesn't work for me?

14-day no-questions refund, handled through the payment platform. See the Refund Policy.

What do you do with my email?

Only launch updates for the kit you picked. Never sold. Delete any time. See the Privacy Policy.

  • You can lose money. Crypto is highly volatile and leveraged futures can wipe out your deposit. Only use money you can afford to lose.
  • Testnet by default. The kits start in testnet / paper mode. Going live is a deliberate step you take yourself.
  • Never enable withdrawal permission on API keys used by a bot. Use trade-only keys with an IP whitelist.
